Living Room
Step into "Old Cape Cod" with the original fir floors, pine woodwork and fireplace from 1950. Your group of 6 can comfortably relax together in the central living area. There's room for toddler toys, or to set up a vacation game of Twister! For entertainment, use your own app on our smart TV, or choose from HD cable channels, board games for all ages, or our collection of books and DVD movies about Cape Cod and New England.
Dining Room
Formerly the sunroom, this bright space is now configured for dining. There's a sideboard and table seating 6-8 (plus high chair and booster for the little ones). Usually though, you'll be enjoying al fresco meals on the patio while using the table to lay out a puzzle! If you're here for a celebration event, we have tablecloths, napkins, platters and servingware to host 12 guests. Just cocktails? The back lawn can accommodate 20-30 for light refreshments outdoors.
Accessible Bath & Laundry
Whether you're older, disabled, or neither, all our guests love our large walk-in shower with teak seat and hand-held spray! Anyone with mobility issues will appreciate grab bars, higher toilet and non-slip, tumbled marble floor. Both bathrooms and the hallway have built-in night lights.
This spacious new bathroom incorporates a washer/dryer. We provide detergent and other laundry supplies, as well as iron and ironing board.
Kitchen
One room that shouldn't recall the 1950's is the kitchen! Ours is thoroughly modern with dishwasher, microwave, ceramic radiant cooktop, electric oven, fridge and freezer. It's finished with sand-colored granite counters, shell tile backsplash, and brass boat cleat cabinet knobs.
You'll find all the cookware and utensils needed for a lobster dinner or anything else you want to cook or bake, whether indoors or on the gas grill. Essential small appliances include toaster, tea kettle, Keurig and drip coffee makers, blender, small food processor (chopper), popcorn air popper.
We stock a few coastal New England cookbooks as well as food wrap and containers, dish towels, trash bags, detergents and cleaners. Also basic condiments in the fridge and typical seasonings in the pantry – and of course coffee for your first morning. If you expect a tiring travel day, ask about our pre-arrival "grocery concierge" service.
Cape Cod's 19th century sea captains spent half their time on whaling ships and the rest living ashore in roomy luxury. Inspired by their lifestyle, this Queen bedroom features a vaulted ceiling with beam, picture window in the style of a sterncastle, and matching French door to the quarterdeck (er, patio). The "Captain's Cabin" is also our accessible bedroom with extra-wide doorways and clearances around the lower-height bed. Brass hooks for your brass-button frock coat, nautical maps and a trophy whale complete the theme.
Currents, shoals and fog make navigating tricky around the Cape & Islands. Local waters are guarded by 23 lighthouses, some dating back to the 1780's. In honor of their keepers, this cozy Queen bedroom evokes a traditional seaside cottage and garden. But if there's a storm, you don't have to get up and tend the lantern! Just snuggle into the pillowtop mattress and pull the covers over your head—we provide all bed linens: high quality cotton sheets, blankets, quilts, plus extra pillows from soft to firm.
Rustic wood and iron accents feel like below decks on a galleon. The crew sleeps in bunks of course. Both beds are Full/Double size to accommodate pirates up to 5'7" tall. You can study the map of Caribbean safehavens on your quilt, or study the framed map to learn about New England shipwrecks and Cape Cod's very own pirates.
Keyless entry
Check-in at any hour without picking up a key, and never worry about losing it at the beach. Even 6-year-olds can operate these electronic door locks. Choose your own 4-digit access code that everyone can remember.
Vintage Bath
The 1950's cottage bathroom has been renewed to a sparkling version of its classic self. The original cast iron tub is great for kids' baths, and not too high to step into. You'll love the little details like shower shelves, hand-made fish tile accent, and bubble mosaic that feels so good under your feet. We provide the toilet paper, tissues, liquid hand soap and bar soap for the shower. There's a hair dryer too. All you need to bring is your own toothpaste and shampoo!
